Canada ginger is native to Quebec. The roots are ginger flavored and were used by settlers, dried and ground to a powder, as a flavoring. It is a superb shade or woodland plant. It forms low growing clumps of vegetation. The solitary flowers are hidden beneath the heart shaped leaves. It is lovely combined with other foliage plants.
These are young but strong transplants.
