About Us
At Axe To Grind Foods, we source fresh, clean, high quality and flavourful ingredients (local, when possible) for our Spice Blends, Rubs, KETO (gluten and sugar free) Blends & Rubs, Popcorn Toppings and Drink Rimmers.
Our recipes are measured, mixed, and packed at a federally inspected (CFIA) facility operated by a social enterprise that employs and provides supports and skills to folks facing barriers to employment. (Flower Cart Group). We are based in Middle Sackville, NS and sell at the Wolfville Farmers' Market on Saturdays in addition to WFM2Go.
The owner, Cynthia Kennedy has a background in running butcher shops, having studied culinary arts, has a passion for great food and is a competitive double bit axe thrower and former Team Captain for Team Canada in 2019.(World Championships - Sweden). A portion of the profits go to support Team Canada's throwers to offset travel costs for international competitions. Axe to Grind began as a fundraiser to help get the team to Sweden in 2019. In 2020, Cynthia decided to make this into a real business and has increased the product diversity from only 4 blends to 40.
