About Us
(Former owner of Pumpkin Moon Farm and Whole Green Heart) -- Michelle Wolf has been an organic gardener, herbcrafter, and environmental social scientist for over 25 years. She was a 16-year vendor at the Wolfville Farmers' Market from 1997-2013, and then returned to WFM2GO in 2020. She was involved as a co-chair and coordinator of the organic certification organizations in the Maritimes, and her property was certified organic for many years. Michelle is also former president of Canada's national seed saving non-profit, Seeds of Diversity Canada. Michelle ran Nova Scotia's earliest 100+ member CSA in the 1990's, hosted many interns over two decades, and helped pave the way for the next generation of women farmers and gardeners to grow their own successful farm businesses. She also spent 10 years (2010-2020) helping develop Canada's national farmers' market sector through her training and consulting work with several provincial farmers' market organizations.

Today, Michelle and her husband Al have developed a botanical sanctuary and public display gardens on their family homestead, featuring 50 large raised beds, old growth forest, a wildlife-rich pond, and a meadow they are slowly transitioning back to native vegetation. They grow perennial plants, seeds, vegetables, culinary and medicinal herbs, berries, flowers, and ornamental plants. They are also avid wild-crafters, gathering pussy willows, herbs, flowers, evergreens, berries, apples and plants in the wild to use in some of their signature products.
Practices
We are committed to the transition to a sustainable world through how we live and how we steward our 7.32 acre permaculture homestead. We garden according to the ecological principles of nature, with biodiversity, the use of hand tools, simplicity, and beauty at the core of our gardening philosophy. We have recently purchased a 340 square foot building to open a retail store on our property in 2024, and we are developing a series of walking trails, herb walks, garden tours, and guest experiences so our customers can come enjoy our property with us. Public events, beginning in 2024, will included self-guided tours, picnics, afternoon teas, and longer immersive 4-hour and full-day guest experiences. We look forward to hosting you and showing you the beauty of this lovely property.
